Gnaeus was one of Batiatus' veteran gladiators. He gained respect and admiration from his peers and master as a retiarius, skilled with the use of net and trident. Gnaeus was one of Batiatus' veteran gladiators. He gained respect and admiration from his peers and master as a retiarius, skilled with the use of net and trident. He also developed a fondness for the slave boy, Pietros, who was the lover of Barca. After the disappearance of Barca, Gnaeus moved in on Pietros and violently raped him. Unable to deal with the harsh life in the ludus without Barca's protection, Pietros committed suicide. Spartacus blamed Gnaeus for Pietros' death, and when Gnaeus made a crude joke about the boy, Spartacus pushed him off the cliff and Gnaeus plunged to his death on the rocks below.Batiatus became angry towards Spartacus for killing one of his best gladiators outside of the arena, causing him great financial loss.
