On Rush Night, Rusty sees Casey's boyfriend Evan cheating on her with Rebecca Logan, causing their eventual break-up.He is extremely intelligent. He is a Polymer Science major at CRU. While in the Polymer Science program, he meets his roommate/best friend Dale Kettlewell. On Rush Night, Rusty meets his other best friend Calvin Owens, a closeted but eventually open gay student. Using his geekiness, he invents a self-healing wire and gets himself a lucrative grant.Because Casey was dating Evan, Rusty was originally going to rush Omega Chi. However, because of what he saw Evan doing and how much he enjoyed Kappa Tau, he chooses KT. He meets Cappie, the President, and becomes his little brother in the fraternity. He bonds very well withe Cappie and the house because they show him how to have fun and teach him brotherhood. The brothers trust and respect him. He gets very involved in the workings of the house when he becomes an active. He plans parties and pranks and plots revenge on Omega Chi. Rusty quickly earns the nickname Spitter when he spits out tequila at his first party.Rusty shows up on campus as a loveless virgin. He never had a girlfriend before. During the show he dates a few different girls: Jen K, Jordan, Catherine, and Dana. At the end of the series, he is dating Ashleigh, Casey's best friend.
