Lt. Phil Lowenthal, Navigator of the Memphis Belle. This character is quite interesting, when we first meet Phil during his interview, he shies away from the camera and does not seem pleased at the publicity of himself and his crew. During the dance for the anniversary of the squadron, Phil becomes heavily drunk, despite their 25th and final mission being the next morning. He becomes paranoid that this was to be the mission that they would all die. The bombardier, Val, is in the nose section just like Phil and tries to make Phil snap out of this attutude and the hangover. Despite Phil seeing doom, he is one of the men who helps to save the crew in the final landing, helping to lower the final stage of the wheel, whilst shouting ' we're no gonna die' , he and along with Jack and Virge, saves the crew and finally persuades Val to attend to the badly wounded Danny Show less «
