Jewel the free spirited bird + jem of Rio, after being captured by Tulio in order to mate her with Blu.Jewel is first seen by Blu, who after seeing hat she had done to one of Tulio's staff, now worried about her, when he first lays eyes on her he instantly falls in love with her, however Jewel has plans of her own. Surprised to see another of her kind she and Blue get off to a rocky and awkward start, with Jewel sending mixed signals, she and Blu are take by character Ferdinand who hands them over to the movies antagonist the bird Smugglers.After an attempt to escape she and Blu are chained together and put away in the back room of the villains hide out. After finding out Blu can not fly her view on Blue does not change. After escaping from the character Nigel the antagonist bird of the movie they first set out to find shelter. After seeing that Blu does have in fact have potential after she shows Jewel is falling for Blu.Through out the movie there are numerous events where her and Blu do not get along as well as times when there are clear signs that the relation ship between the two blossom.By the end of the movie after an ordeal on the villains plane she finally Kisses blue and from it gives him the courage to finally fly and secures the relation ship between the two.
